My name is Elaine, and I became a grandma at age twenty-six. Impossible? Not really. I married a man who is sixteen years older than I am who had two teenage daughters. When I was twenty-six years old, my oldest step-daughter presented me with my first grandchild. Six more grandchildren followed, and now my husband and I are great-grandparents to four beautiful girls.
My husband is a retired steelworker, and together we have chosen to live simply, embracing a frugal lifestyle and serving our Lord Jesus Christ.
I used to be a high school English teacher, and now I have a small sewing business in my home. I love the commute to my basement studio where I do alterations and custom sewing for my customers.
My grown-up granddaughters and others like them are the inspiration for this blog. Like most teachers, I love sharing the things I’ve learned with others. This blog is a place for me to share some of the life lessons that I would teach my own granddaughters if they had the time to sit with me and listen.
Perhaps some of the life lessons I’ve learned will be of help to you or someone you know.
