No More Wet Sleeves

100_1859

Today's post is a quick hint for those of you who like to wear long sleeve shirts to work around the house.  I like to wear long sleeves around the house these days, but I hate getting my sleeves wet when I'm doing something that involves water like washing dishes. Maybe you've tried rolling your sleeves up or just pushing them up your arms to keep them out of the water.  When I try that, my sleeves are constantly sliding back down my arms. I NEED something to keep my sleeves from sliding down my arm.  Rubberbands are too tight for my arms, and pony tail holders are too small. I knew … [Read more...]

Creating My Own Charging Station

DSC00229

Can you even believe how many devices in our homes have to be charged?  Kindles, razors, Dongles (yes, Grandma has a Dongle!), iPods, mp3 players, and even our vacuum cleaner all run on cordless power that needs to be recharged. Closet Re-organization

I finally cleaned our master bedroom, and the part that I saved for last was the reorganization of the storage shelves at the end of my closet.  Grandpa added these shelves to my closet not long after we moved here, and I love them!  I use the shelves for storing extra toiletries, first aid supplies, travel things, and the like. I used my usual method of decluttering … [Read more...]

Dusting Products Reviewed

Dusting is my least favorite household chore, but dust is a part of life.  The question I ask is this, "What is the fastest, easiest, and most frugal way to get my house dusted?"  In an effort to find an answer to that question, I have experimented with an array of dusting products.  If it weren't for the frugal part, the fastest and easiest way would be to hire someone to do the dusting for me.   That's not an option for me at this point, so I soldier on.  Let me tell you about a few of the things that I have tried for dusting.  1.  A microfiber cloth  Not all microfiber … [Read more...]

OHIO: Only Handle It Once

100_0858

On a frugal message board, I recently read this tip posted by one of my fellow frugals.  She was sharing with us some of the things that she learned from reading a book about Hoarders.  This rule of handling things only once (OHIO) is something that I'd heard of before, but now I'm working at putting it into practice.  It is helping me especially in dealing with paper clutter.  Let me show you how this works ..... Within the past couple months, we received a wedding invitation from our nephew.  I knew that we would plan to attend, so I decided to OHIO.  I immediately wrote … [Read more...]
