What do you do when you really need something that you don't have? Please tell me your answer to that question isn't "go to the store and buy it".  Sometimes rushing out to buy a brand new item  that we need or think we need can cost us money we wouldn't have to spend.  I've got several alternatives to suggest to you today and some examples of ways we have saved money over the years. 1.  Borrow the item from someone else. If you need something for a one time use, then you may be able to borrow the item from someone else.  For instance, because Grandpa cuts most of the wood we use … [Read more...]

My Christmas Wish to You

ID-10053418

I've started more Christmas blog posts than I can count in the past week, but none of them felt right. My heart has been heavy at times this month because of all the evil that is evident in our world.  My heart is also filled with joy because Jesus came into our dark and violent world with the remedy for my sin.  I have a Christmas pin with these words:  Jesus is the Reason for the Season. If you've never been a part of this amazing opportunity, I encourage you to head over the the Samaritan's Purse website and read all about it.  The packers  (people like you and me) choose whether … [Read more...]

Repurposing Kitchen Cabinets

When my friend Ann told me that her husband was going to remodel their kitchen, I was happy for her!  When I (in casual conversation so as not to appear grabby) asked my friend what they were going to do with their old cabinets and she said that they had no use for them, I was even happier!  Later when she said that her husband would deliver them to our house as he tore them out, I was ecstatic! Grandpa gave me first choice of all of the cabinets, and I ended up using all of my friend's upper kitchen cabinets in my sewing room in the basement.  We decided to stack them rather than … [Read more...]
