Setting Up a Weekly Schedule

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is a copy of a rough draft of my schedule that I devised while reading an E-book about time management.  I've revised the schedule a few times since first reading the book, but this will give you an idea what I'm talking about when I refer to my weekly schedule.  This form, by the way, is available online at the author's website. I mentioned in my last post that some of the non-negotiable activities in my life were getting squeezed out of my schedule by less important activities because these activities lacked a fixed time for completion.  Two such non-negotiable activities are … [Read more...]

A Good Book About Time Management

“Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that’s the stuff that life is made of.” – Benjamin Franklin I'm a sucker for books about time management.  With each new book comes the hope that I will find the key to managing my time efficiently making it possible for me to accomplish everything on my to-do list with time to spare for all the other things I want to do. Ready for the Challenge!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The pantry challenge, that is! I spent some time last week cleaning out my pantry and defrosting my freezer in anticipation of using up my surplus during the month of February. I've got my pantry organized, and I know what's in there now. The freezer is clean, frost-free, and organized again, too. My freezer inventory is up-to-date. We are as ready as we can be for our February pantry challenge. My plan is to post a picture of our pantry and freezer at the end of next month so that we can see how much of our surplus we were able to use. It's going to be a real challenge … [Read more...]

A while back I posted about keeping track of blogs I follow by adding them to my favorites bar.  In the comments of that post one of my readers, a former student of mine, recommended that I try Google Reader for regular blog reading.  I hesitated to do so because I don't like setting up new things on the computer, but I was not completely satisfied with my method of organizing my favorite blogs. Finally, I decided to give Google Reader a try, and I'm so glad that I did.  If you're unfamiliar with Google Reader, it is like a holding tank for new posts from the blogs that you … [Read more...]

The Importance of Making a List

100_2062

Grandpa and I are planning a trip, so we are making a list and checking it twice.  I'm amazed at how many people can pack for a trip without a list.  I cannot.  I learned my lesson the last time I went to camp with my sisters.  I decided to wing it and just throw a few things together before time to leave. Big mistake.  Missing from my camp supplies were the following items:  games, sinus pills (discovered missing when I got a dandy sinus headache the first night we were there), and coffee.  Decaf coffee is not a great camp drink. List-making in preparation for a trip is important … [Read more...]
